Helping you to help us

There are some things that you can do that will help us and the Ambulance service get to you and give help as quickly as possible:

    • Ensure your house name or number is clearly visible from the road
    • Turn on all the lights in the house that face the road if it's dark outside
    • Ask a neighbour to stand outside and flag down the ambulance or our car (we will have a reflective visor or car magnet)
    • Put all animals in another room out of the way
    • Collect the casualties medication and prescriptions ready to pass on to the Paramedics
    • Learn some basic first aid - a little bit can go a long way
    • ICE (In Case of Emergency) - Put an ICE contact number in the address book of your phone of someone you want contacted in an emergency situation, you can have more than 1, keep using ICE and add a number ex: ICE2
    • Message in a Bottle- The bottle contains a form and two labels.
      • The Form requires personal details of name and address etc, then details of illness, medication, allergies, doctor, and emergency contacts. Following completion the form is returned to the bottle which is then placed in the fridge in the door compartment where it will be safe and easily found.
      • The Labels. Stick one on the outside of the fridge door and one on the inside of the front door of the house at eye level.
